Liturgies for Lent
Sunday April 4
Today’s reading: Matthew 28, Luke 24
Thank you for journeying with us through the season of Lent. Our prayer is that through this rhythm of reading and reflection, you have found new freedom and hope in Christ.
Today, we celebrate Jesus’ victory over the grave, freeing us from the rightful consequences of our sin. We invite you to use the liturgy below to reflect and rejoice over the restoration promised to us and the world through the resurrection.
A Liturgy for Restoration
Oh Savior, we have searched for and found You;
or rather, You have found us.
You have found us weeping beside the empty tomb,
grieving the finality of death.
You have found us seeking what we thought was stolen,
whispering the words of the hopeless.
We didn’t know that this emptiness was the birthplace for new life.
You have called us by name and lifted our heads,
setting us on a new path forward.
You have told us where You are going so that we may follow,
grafting us into the family of Yahweh.
Your Father is now our Father, Your God is now our God.
May we declare all that we have seen
and echo all that You have said.
May we walk in Your footsteps
and proclaim peace to everyone we encounter.
May we go forth as Your people,
sent by the Father and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
For the day is coming when a great multitude
from every tribe and tongue,
clothed in white and cleansed from iniquity,
will stand before the Lamb of God,
crying out in joyful praise
to the Source and Steward of their salvation.
To our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.
Oh Lamb of God, may we be counted among this multitude of worshippers,
whose robes have been washed spotless in Your blood.
May we ready ourselves for the marriage supper of the Lamb,
clothed in the purity of our Beloved.
May we lift up our voices together, like the roar of many waters,
thundering our Hallelujahs.
Write down any thoughts you have, or any revelations the Spirit has brought to mind.
Read today’s scripture, and ask God to reveal truth to you through His Word:
Write down any thoughts you have, or any revelations the Spirit has brought to mind.
